Bart de Boer, Nicolas de Villiers und Amanda Thompson (v.l.n.r.) sprachen im CEO Talk über Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft der Freizeitindustrie.

Charming, charming
No less than 1,200 exhibitors and
visitors attended the genuinely
unforgettable opening reception on
the first evening at the Museé des
Arts Forains. Jean-Paul Favand is
the owner and private founder of
this museum dedicated to historic
funfair attractions, and he welcomed
the visitors personally. An actor and
antique dealer, he opened the museum
in 1996. This museum exhibits historic
carousels and games originating
from the years 1850 to 1950. He
has developed four different theme
areas in and around a couple of old
warehouses: the 19th century fair in
the Musée des Arts Forains, Carnival
in the "Salons Vénitiens", a cabinet
of curiosities in the "Théâtre du
Merveilleux" and the wonderful garden
between the exhibition halls in the
"Théâtre de Verdure". What makes this
museum all the more unique is the fact

that it is almost exclusively available to
be hired and viewed only for company
events and other special events. It is
only open to the public a few days a
year in the classic museum sense.
It's safe to say that all the attendees
agreed this unique event will be very
hard to beat.

exhibiting at the EAS were distributed
between two halls at the Porte de
Versailles convention center in Paris.
Apparently even the IAAPA was
surprised by the number of bookings
and the actual space requirements. No
other explanation for the unfavorable
separation between the halls seems
feasible. The hall that was booked
